  • RECOMMENDATION

    THAT the Public Art Advisory Committee adopt the agenda for the September 14, 2021 meeting as circulated.

  • RECOMMENDATION

    THAT the Public Art Advisory Committee adopt the minutes of the July 13, 2021 meeting as circulated.

Manager of Cultural Development and guests, Jan Ballard and Alison Meredith from Ballard Fine Arts, to present the draft Intersection Art Plan, to be reviewed and discussed by the Committee.

Director of Engineering and Municipal Operations to provide a general update on the progress of the Centre Street Walkway project.

Facilitated discussion to take place regarding placemaking vs. beautification definitions and the demonstrated value of planning for collaboration to leverage public art opportunities (draft updated policy to be circulated in advance).

Manager of Cultural Development to provide an overview of proposed changes for the Public Art and Placemaking Art Policy (updated version includes mural guidelines). 

Following this overview, Committee members are encouraged to bring forward comments/ suggestions to the next meeting for further discussion.

At the March 15, 2021 Special Council Meeting, Council endorsed the following resolution:

THAT a member of the Public Art Advisory Committee be appointed to the City's Advisory Design Panel (ADP) as a non-voting member to be invited to ADP meetings when there is a public art component proposed or expected, based on Council Policy 511 Density Bonus / Amenity Contribution.

ADP Terms of Reference provided for information purposes.

  • RECOMMENDATION

    THAT the Public Art Advisory Committee appoints NAME (and NAME as an alternate) to serve as a non-voting member on the Advisory Design Panel until the end of their term (October, 31, 2022).

Committee to discuss ideas presented in the article brought forward by Committee member, G. Kennedy, regarding the City of Vancouver's consideration of mandatory mural placement on construction hoarding.

Committee to further discuss and finalize their 2021-2022 Work Plan, to be presented to Council for their endorsement.

Corporate Administration to provide the Committee Action Tracking document for information purposes.

The following meeting schedule was approved by the Committee and is provided for information purposes:

  • October 12, 2021; and,
  • November 9, 2021.

All meetings are scheduled to take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
