  THAT the Environmental Advisory Committee adopt the agenda for the September 23, 2021 meeting as circulated.

  THAT the Environmental Advisory Committee adopt the minutes of the July 22, 2021 meeting as circulated.

UPDATE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING & MUNICIPAL OPERATIONS REGARDING OUTSTANDING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS AND PREVIOUS BUDGET SUBMISSION ITEMS

The Director of Engineering & Municipal Operations to provide an update to the Committee regarding the status of previous and outstanding Committee recommendations that were sent to Council, and to also provide an overview of previous budget submission items pertaining to stormwater treatment and aquifer protection plans.

2021-2022 WORK PLAN

The Committee to further discuss and finalize their 2021-2022 Work Plan, to be forwarded to Council for approval, including the below seven (7) priority items determined during the July 22, 2021 meeting:

1. Climate Change: what can the City do with respect to improving vehicle emissions/adaptations?
2. Stormwater Quality: how it affects Semiahmoo Bay, aquifer protection, Columbia Street diversion.
3. Chloramine in Water: runoff to Semiahmoo Bay and its effects on sea life, drinking water levels and impacts on residents’ health.
4. Review Sewage Rates: rates should be based on water usage amounts.
5. Encourage Reduced Water Usage
6. Solid Waste Management
7. Earthquake and Tsunami Preparedness

Also determined during the July 22, 2021 meeting were the top three (3) priorities from the above list, which are as follows:

1. Climate Change
2. Chloramine in Water
3. Tie between Stormwater Quality and Solid Waste Management
