  • RECOMMENDATION

    THAT the Public Art and Culture Advisory Committee adopts the agenda for April 10, 2024 as circulated.

  • RECOMMENDATION

    THAT the Public Art and Culture Advisory Committee adopts the minutes of the March 13, 2024 meeting as circulated.

Committee to consider and make a recommendation to Council regarding options presented by staff for ways the City could choose to recognize the Komagata Maru incident.

Committee to consider and make a recommendation to Council regarding a donation offer of a stained glass image of late Councillor Helen Fathers by artist, Jessica Fairweather, in accordance with the Public Art and Placemaking Policy. 

Committee to discuss the selection panel process.

Further to discussion during the Committee's last meeting, staff to provide additional information and options for how the City could choose to proceed with the offer from artist, Chris MacClure, to be named "Home of International Artist Day."

Staff to provide an update after meeting with staff at Centennial Arena and the White Rock Library to discuss the feasibility of placing the lit bench (offered as a donation by the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board) in one of these locations temporarily, with the intention of recommending that it be installed permanently at Five Corners when upgrades are made in the coming years.

Committee member, B. Brooks, to provide an update on planning to date for the City's Whale Wall 40th Anniversary Event.

Staff to provide an update about the Artist Call Out and Committee to discuss the Selection Panel.

Staff to provide an update regarding this program.

Staff to provide a brief overview of any new updates to the City's draft Five (5) Year Art Plan, for the Committee's review and feedback.

Staff to provide an update regarding relevant developments and/or events happening in the Recreation and Culture department.

Chairperson and/or staff to provide an update regarding the status of action items and recommendations from previous meetings.

The following meeting schedule was previously approved by the Committee and is provided for information purposes:

  • May 8, 2024;
  • June 12, 2024;
  • July 10, 2024;
  • September 11, 2024;
  • October 9, 2024; and,
  • November 13, 2024.

All meetings are scheduled to take place in Council Chambers at White Rock City Hall from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
